The pope on trial

Wow! I just love this cover of the New Statesman this week.

It is about time we start looking at the pope figure for what it truly is: a man capable of great or horrible things. In this case, a man with the weight of years of covering pedophilia cases for the Catholic church who needs to face responsibility.

I know pedophilia isn’t a Catholic only thing (although we hear about it the most with priests…) however, what seems to be natural is the cover up…that or simply ignoring it and hoping it goes away. Why do abusers and pedophiles within the Mormon church still get to go to the Temple? Why does nothing ever happen to them? I have not once seen one be excommunicated or brought up on charges–it is “handled” internally. I just don’t get it. I am sure other religions have these issues where the populace is preyed upon by sick and evil individuals. I hope at least the Catholics in this situation get some justice….even if it isn’t enough and far too late…
