I am a child of… chance?!?!?!?!
Welcome to Living with Mormons!
I will be dedicating this site to discussing personal, marital, and social issues which stem from living in Utah as a non-believer in the supernatural.
If you haven’t had a chance to read who I am, you should check out my about page for a little insight about me, my family, and how I came to be (no spiritual worlds included).
The site is not meant to offend or deliberately criticize anyone’s faith, but to simply expose the issues that some of us might share.
My motivation was born out of a simple answer my, then 4-year-old, son gave to this question I had asked him:
“Dude, why are you so smart???”
To which he answered, “Because God made that way, dad!”
What!?!?! That’s it?!?! Well, I guess for a 4-year-old, that’s as good an answer as any, but it wasn’t until my wife grinned at me that the bells started to ring in my head.
“What an easy answer,” I thought. “And completely unsubstantiated!”
I was tempted to sit him down and start lecturing him on the scientific method, evolution, genetics, etc… BUT HE’S 4!!!
I let it go, but I had started to see something I had never personally witnessed before in my life: indoctrination at work.
